Get in on the conversation: Let’s Talk Energy Week – IT’S ON!

OTTAWA, October 23, 2013 – From February 21 to 28, 2014, the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation (CSTMC) invites Canadians across the country to explore and discuss the vital role energy plays in all aspects of our lives during the first ever national energy awareness week, Let’s Talk Energy Week.

Let’s Talk Energy Week, is an opportunity for individuals and groups across the country to focus on learning and talking about energy which is so much a part of our science and technology story, and so critical to our quality of life and the economic, social and environmental health of our country. Plan an event or activity or, as the Week approaches, plan to participate in an event or activity in your community. Check the letstalkenergy.ca website regularly for information about programming.

Let’s Talk Energy Week is being introduced in the context of Let’s Talk Energy, an initiative of the CSTMC which aims to increase energy literacy across Canada and engage Canadians in considering our energy future. Through informative exhibitions, programs, virtual material, activities and events, the CSTMC and its partners across the country aim to improve Canadians’ understanding of energy issues, which will allow them to make informed choices and decisions on these issues.

“We want all Canadians from east to west, from north to south to understand as much as possible about energy” said Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation Interim President and CEO, Fernand Proulx. “This is why we are hoping all Canadians will use this opportunity to learn more, talk more and do more.”

About Let’s Talk Energy

Let's Talk Energy is an innovative and expansive pan-Canadian energy literacy initiative, which the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation (CSTMC) developed with the help of a national advisory committee and visionary sponsors. It features three major exhibitions at the CSTMC's museums (the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, with Energy Park: Nature at Work; the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, with Green Skies Ahead; and the Canada Science and Technology Museum, with Energy: The Power to Choose). In addition to the exhibitions at the CSTMC's museums, the Let's Talk Energy Initiative consists of a network of 30 members of the Museum Associate Partners Program (MAPP) across Canada that are actively promoting energy literacy. Let's Talk Energy also includes exhibitions, information kiosks, virtual educational materials for schools, and activities and events.
